Tell Me A Story
About long ago, the olden days, you know when you were little :/ The one time, the only time, all the cousins would sit attentively, listening to every spoken word, was when a story was being told about someone we were all dying to know, the younger little girl who was now the matriarch of the family. What trouble did she get into, and then get resolved … Embarrassing moments that had us roaring in laughter … Stories of love and pain, struggle and heartache that had us on the edge of our seat feeling the camaraderie in that moment, having a better sense of where we came from and what it took to get to this very moment. The grace given at the end of the tale always won out and gave a peace filling our hearts, an audible release, “Ahhhh”, as we sank further into our pillow for a good night’s sleep. It was a feeling of “I know you” and now “I know myself a little better”. Drifting off with a sense of pride, obstacles overcome registering in our psyche, by the one standing over us giving a “sleep tight” kiss on the forehead. The reality absorbing into our mind, body and soul that she’s here … with me … important enough to merit her presence. And in that space in time conveying the most valuable gift you can give anyone … You Matter.
