Interesting first few lines of this song. It talks nothing of giving, what we typically think of when speaking of Christmas. Receiving is the first step, the starting point to Giving. “Let every heart prepare Him room.” Open up your spirit. Let down your walls. “And Heaven and nature sing.” Acknowledge the value of each moment. You can’t virtue signal with Receiving and so it gets little recognition, but Giving can’t take place without it.
Receive mercy, Give grace. Receive grace, Give joy. Receive joy, Give peace.
