“See a penny, pick it up. All day long you’ll have good luck.”
I still do it. If I see a coin on the road, I’ll pick it up. Like stop dead in my tracks, traffic whizzing by, bend down and claim my prize. Even now, it produces the same initial reaction as years ago, when I recognized the insignificant as meaningful, the trivial as relevant, the meager as worthwhile. It was as if the universe had singled me out for reward. You have to pick it up, though. When you see it, you have to pick it up, if you want to receive that sense of reward. So is it the penny that brings you luck? Or does it reside in your choice to notice and then act.
Awareness … Acceptance … Acknowledgement … It’s a good practice.
A small shiny reminder in the middle of a large, dark asphalt expanse … That little bright spot in perhaps a mundane day reawakening a simple concept we understood perfectly as children … possibilities abound. Open your eyes. Receive the moment. Every Experience Has Value 🙂
