Village to Village 10k: Mountain Brook

Yeah, so I used to run marathons, a 10k might be a nice pastime … especially since I’m only running 3 miles every now and then these days :/

This is what the day taught me: A) Age is a real thing, B) Never underestimate training, and C) From sponsors to community involvement, this was one of the most satisfying runs I’ve had in a long time. True I was the caboose of the event, not too many finished after me, but what a great sense of accomplishment and camaraderie, from the locals cheering us on with homemade signs and sidewalk chalk messages, to vendors supplying post-race goodies, to the course itself – just a few inclines, lots of volunteers providing water and traffic control along the way, and a glorious downhill to the finish line. Village to Village 10k has won my heart; now to ramp up to a more regular running schedule and test my skills again next year.
